Kiwi’s win first Round of British Gravel Rally Championship

Photo courtesy of www.neilburgess.comThis became one of those rallies where we really had to extend ourselves to battle for position. Most corners were 2nd gear but I had pretty much figured out the best compromise between 1st and 3rd gears for the different corner degrees. In almost all cases 3rd was the least bad option and although it was very very slow off the corners it really did encourage high corner speed.

The driving pleasure just got more and more as we pushed harder throughout the day to try and take the class win.

It was a real nail biter and we only got results every 3 stages. Eventually only after the final stage which was full of tight corners we found we had done enough to take the class win!!. We were elated with this result and feel very lucky to have been given the opportunity to compete in the UK within an incredibly high class field made up of more then 60 WRC and top spec 4wd cars.

Thanks again to all that helped, we really appreciate everything you did and we hope we can help out in NZ in the future.

The whole event was a real pleasure with everyone involved being very friendly and willing to do whatever it took to help us with this event.
